About the Opportunity 

Harbour City Ferries has an exciting opportunity for an Assistant Tradesperson to join the team in Sydney, NSW, on a full-time basis.

In this role, you will be working with various trades undertaking maintenance and repairs on the Harbour City Ferries fleet. You will be required to work safely and efficiently under limited supervision.  It is essential that you are able to work to time frames and consistently meet the targets set by your direct supervisors.

It is an expectation that you will demonstrate a can-do attitude and will always represent Harbour City Ferries professionally, and strictly adhere to our Code of Conduct and business values.

Your duties will include (but will not be limited to):

  • Providing assistance to Trades Staff in the maintenance and repair of Harbour City Ferries fleet
  • Ensuring Tradesperson's needs are met for the maintenance and repairing of vessels;
  • Assisting with the docking and maintenance of vessels;
  • Actively assisting in the identification, elimination and control of workplace hazards; and
  • Reporting hazards to relevant managers for action, in addition to notifying relevant workplace committees.

The successful candidate will be an experienced Assistant Tradesperson with certification in one or more of the following: Crane Driving, Advanced Rigging, Confined Spaces, Forklift Driving, or Scaffolding. Experience in Hydro Blasting and skills in Spray Painting would also be highly regarded, as will any marine or shipyard experience.

An understanding of EEO and OH&S policies and practices will be essential, along with the ability to work as part of a multi-skilled team, as well as autonomously on nominated tasks. Your high-level communication skills will assist in establishing effective working relationships with clients and external groups, and your strong work ethic will drive your performance.
